New Episode and an Update

The second episode of The World Ends With You 2: Manhattan is finally finished. Took me longer than the first one, even though it's shorter. It was summer, I was taking breaks. However, I put a LOT of detail into this next section of the comic, and I think it'll show. I will be the first to admit I think I rushed the ending of this episode though, because I wanted to finish it before summer ended. And while most people have recently started school yet again (myself inclded), it is still August as I post it. Anyway, I hope you all like it.

I figure I should make this update quick: TWEWY 2: Manhattan will be going on hiatus for a while. I will not be working on it. I'm not going to quit making it, but there's a better way to do it. I'm looking into buying a graphics board (if you don't know what it is, google it), which would improve productions speed, production quality, and won't use up paper. I feel it's a worthwhile investment. So please wait patiently for me to obtain one before I continue working on TWEWY 2: Manhattan.

Big, Lazy News

It's been a while since my last update. And now that I've actually (sort of) gotten some stuff done, I thought I should make an update. There are a few things I want to inform everyone (who actually reads this blog... the numbers are 0 to a few) that I've got a couple ideas running behind TWEWY 2: Manhattan. And while this blog remains home to TWEWY 2: Manhattan, I see no reason it can't include my other works as well, as there is no reason to make a whole separate blog for each of my works.

First off, the next episode of TWEWY 2: Manhattan will hopefully be finished sooner rather than later, although, that hope is a given. I want to get up to speed with my work on it and get it done quickly, but I have yet to pick up the pace. However, I have been putting much finer detail into the last few pages I've done. So while I may be working at a much slower pace than anyone would prefer, especially myself, I'm sure I will not be the only one to admire the amount of detail I'm putting into this TWEWY fan comic. Not just in story, but in overall illustration. I'm simply becoming a better artist, by my standards at least, and I think anyone who follows along with TWEWY 2: Manhattan will notice this as well. It may be a bit longer until the episode is finally done, but in the mean time, I have been uploading more deviations to my deviantART account.

Socondly, If you've been here before, you may have noticed the snazzy new background to the blog. I do like it more than the old bland one, however, I enjoyed the old one's simplicity. I do plan on making future changes to the blog to make it as awesome as a blog can get. it is for the sake of TWEWY 2: Manhattan, after all. Which in itself seems reason enough to make something awesome.

Finally, I tend to make separate updates on all 3 of my accounts, that being youtube, deviantART, and here on Blogger. To keep in the loop, it's probably best to check all 3 accounts regularly. However, I do not update any of my 3 accounts daily, so don't check daily. Check every now and then. I am active on all of my accounts about once a day, so with some luck, you could catch me online. Also, as a side note, I have different usernames on all 3 of my accounts as well... perhaps not my best choice, but alas, I JUST HAD TO YOU UNDERSTAND. Hahaha, ohhhh....

I AM LAZY.

Hibernation

I knew I wouldn't last long. Here's the deal: I can't keep up with deviations right now. Working on them is keeping me from working on TWEWY 2: Manhattan. So I've decided, the best decision to make is to go into hibernation. What I mean by this is that I will not make any large updates, either here, youtube, or deviantART until episode 2 of TWEWY 2: Manhattan is done. I may make small updates and occasional deviations. But all of my work online--until episode 2 is complete--will be behind the scenes.

For your information, I have an excuse for missing my deviantART update yesterday, when I said I would start up again. This is because it was still part of my vacation. Automatically justified.

Now, about the new youtube. That was actually an unintentional April Fool's joke. That's right. Just go with it. I've warmed up to the new youtube, realizing it's more like Windows 7 than anything. That doesn't mean it's good, though. It just means it's not terrible. No, I won't be moving to another site.

What's wrong with it? Well, it's simply the fact that if it's not broken, don't fix it. Fixing something that isn't broken always breaks it. If it isn't changed back to the way it was in 2 weeks, I will be moving my TWEWY 2: Manhattan operations to either Viddler or Daily Motion. I haven't decided yet, but if youtube doesn't end up changing back, I will make a definite decision on which site I will choose and make the update here.

Be sure to pick "Extremely dissatisfied". Maybe I'm overreacting about the new design; some other people seem to like it. But I don't, and most likely, unless something makes me like it, I will move operations to either Viddler or Daily Motion.

Short Notice

Well, there's absolutely no way you can say you're surprised. I doubt I'll have the pilot up by Saturday. I just can't see it happening. I've got to stop making such specific deadlines. Instead of choosing a specific day, I'll try and be more vague. It'll be uploaded sometime next week. And as a backup vague deadline, sometime this month. There, I KNOW I can promise that much. Just how it goes

Seeing as how I already missed a day for uploading a picture to deviantART, I'm moving forward with discretion. I'm already late on the first episode (which is nearly done), and putting up daily pictures might be a tough trend to keep up. I don't want to keep making deadlines that I can't keep. To prevent this, the only deadlines I will make in the future will be ones that I'm 110% sure I can keep. That being said, there's more on my deviantART account. I actually remembered today (I will not be updating every day just to say that there's a new piece of art, however).

Delay + Update

First off, I'd like to begin this post by saying I'm lazy. But, in reality, I'm busy. Or maybe, that's just what I'd like you to believe. Moving on...

The pilot of TWEWY 2: Manhattan has been delayed. For one thing, I'm not done. No details on that, just that the episode is not done. But, the premiere date has only been moved to this Saturday, March 6th. If that, even. The first episode will most likely be uploaded before then, I just wanted to give my self some leeway. Just in case.

In other news, I've still decided to upload the concept art on to deviantART in spite of my tardiness on the first episode. You can check out my first submissions here.

And just to prove to you guys how sorry I am about not having the pilot out today, I will release an audio commentary for the episode in no more than 2 weeks. It will possibly guest star FreeRunful. Hopefully. Keep an eye open for more news!

Trailer + Update

I'm happy to announce that the TWEWY 2: Manhattan trailer is now completely finished and viewable on youtube! And after watching, check out my channel! My username on youtube is uppercut42. Also, check out FreeRunful's channel. He's a pretty cool dude, and even provided a picture for the trailer.

Trailer

Now for an update. The series premiere of TWEWY 2: Manhattan is March 1st. Starting then, I'm going to attempt uploading daily Noise Reports, Pins, items, concept art and more to deviantART. Yes, I did just say daily. That means that if people are getting impatient because I'm not releasing content, they can rest easy. I WILL be releasing content. I'm still making a deviantART account. But on March 1st, I plan to upload several pieces of concept art to go along with the Pilot episode. And after that, new pieces of TWEWY 2 related art will be uploaded daily from then on, probably until the series is over or until I run out of Noise, Pin and item ideas. Whichever comes first.

Scrambling

It's becoming increasingly obvious that getting a quality trailer out by Sunday may be out of the question, but that's not going to stop me from trying. Plus, this is probably the best week for me to get this done, because the extent of my hardest schoolwork, which requires the most attention, will be finished by the end of this week. Of course, that's cutting it close, though, but I should have a good enough trailer. After the trailer is released, I can focus on finishing the first episode of the series, which I do have a release date planned for. And after February is over, my life's easy going again, and the highest stress-inducing work is over. Then I can donate a good 85% of my time towards making this comic.

That release date for the first episode of TWEWY 2: Manhattan is March 1st, 2010! So be ready for it in a couple weeks!

Details

It came to my attention when planning this series that it would be a more entertaining comic with music. That being said, the obvious thing to do would be to use the TWEWY soundtrack in the episodes. The soundtrack is being collected and downloaded, so that I can actually use them as audio tracks in Windows Movie Maker.

As for quality details, I'm hoping that won't be a problem to begin with and that the images won't look blurry. However, I'll make any quality changes necessary if need be.

Within the comic, there are other minor details that TWEWY fans will notice right away. Tribute lines, spoofs... even 1 brand made it from the first TWEWY into my version of Manhattan (as a joke, of course)!

What you're getting into

My main beef with what I'm doing is that, despite the fact that I'm making this in Windows Movie Maker, is that most likely people will criticize my artwork. I'm not drawing Neku, or anyone from the first TWEWY. I'm making my own characters. Not only will it make a whole new story, but it'll also make it harder for people to say I did a bad job at drawing my own characters. Although I'm sure someone will find a way. There's always someone.

Just so you know what you're getting into, here's a preview. I drew these sometime in late 2008 or early 2009. If you don't like these, rest assured, my artwork has gotten better. Plus, I don't think these are that bad.


The characters pictured here will NOT be appearing in TWEWY 2: Manhattan, but I think it's about time I gave some names of the characters who WILL be. The 2 main characters are named Nate and Jake (the character Nate being inspired by myself, the character Jake being inspired by my friend who helped support my idea, FreeRunful on youtube). There's also Sadie, Krissy, CT, Christopher, Tony, Amelia, and of course others. But hey, I can't give it all away. You're not even supposed to know this from the trailer! Good things happen to my blog followers.

Trailer In the Making

Right now, the trailer to TWEWY 2: Manhattan is in the "work-in-progress" stage. It's being put together, arranged in a format that will hopefully not spoil anything, but still be enough to attract viewers to it. Of course, that's how all movie and video game trailers are intended to be (The trailer for the Last Airbender, however, fails at attracting my attention).

The trailer still requires much more work than I would have preffered. It's being made in Windows Movie Maker, which as I'm sure plenty of its users know, makes seemingly easy tasks much more tedious than hoped for. Still, I want to make it a good looking trailer, so all of that tedious work I'll just have to put up with. WITH EVERY EPISODE. But ignore my complaining. I knew the difficulties going into this, so I'll stick with it.

Finally, the trailer itself probably won't last longer than 3 minutes in length. Sure, that doesn't sound like very much, but remember that this creation is in comic form. You're just going to see pictures that won't stay on screen for very long. I can't do impressive animations or cutscenes like the ones in The World Ends With You, making this trailer, most likely, much less to look at. Plus, I don't color my comics, which means they'll all be black and white. Sure, it's a lot to put up with, but nitpicking won't get you anywhere with me.

What it's all about.

Well, here's some info on TWEWY 2: Manhattan. I came up with the idea of a Reapers' Game taking place in New York. I've been drawing comics for quite a few years now, and I thought, "Hey, I could turn this idea of mine into a comic." Ok, maybe that's not what I thought exactly. But, I got the idea and shared it with my friend. He thought it was cool, and after I got some more done, we decided we could put it on youtube and it might become something big. Just a hope for now, but maybe.

Storywise, its 2 most main characters were inspired by myself and my friend. His youtube user name is FreeRunful. Check out his profile. He's a pretty cool dude. Anyway, back to story. The Reapers' Game has a few new rules in Manhattan, of course, but it shares many of the same. There'll be new pins, new psychs, new brands and a new story entirely. Big-time TWEWY fans should like what they'll see.
